I was looking at the saa7378 datasheet and I saw that we can use a 33.8688Mhz clock with it. it allows to disable the saa7378 internal pll, that is a good thing.
You have to put the pin13 (selpll) of the saa to ground. To do this, i cut the line and i solder pin 12 (gnd) and 13 of the saa together.
I removed the quartz, the 2 22pF caps and plug the oscillator.
And... IT WORKS !!
if someone who's already using a 8.4672Mhz tentlab oscillator wants to try the mod, It would be nice to see the results.

yes it improves the sound, at least as much as a standard clock update. There are more details and the highs are sweeter. the stereo image is better too.
