I am in the repair thingy nowdays more than 40 years,
East Electronics is nearly a legend in Athens and repairs more than 3500 audio machine per year
Obviously that is realy good.
So a journalist is approaching us in order to make an interview with twist:
They wanted to take any customer's amplifier from the shop as is , as brought..
Listen , record , understand the problems , measure and make a file out of it ...
Then bring it back for repair and possible upgrades
Then repeat the procedure in order to understand how better is an amplifier aftair repaired and upgrade by us .
That was the game
Though i didn't play fair .....
Before giving them the amplifier i degraded pretty much everything inside
Input capacitor was 4.7 replaced with very old and used 0.47
Feedback capacitor was 100uf replaced with old and used 10uf
AUX PSU regulation was 2*220uf replaced with old used and leacky 2*47uf
main bank was 2*6800 reduced to 4700uf
phono op amp was 5532 replaced with 4558
Bias was 18mv Em to Em dropped to a total zero !!!!!
2 days later there is someone on the phone :
--What was the price of the amp when the model was active ?
--This amplifier plays fantastic !
--It is one of the best amplifier that a heared in all my all life !
--Why the customer originally brought it for service since the machine plays so well ? ...
--Is there a chance that i can find one the same to have for personal use? .....
I will pick up the amplifier any day
