Hey guys. I finally got all my parts for my projector. Overhead Projector + LCD panel. Tested it. Works wonderfully (though I'm in a smallish dorm room... 🙁 )
I'm getting a little more ambitious though, and I want to retrofit the overhead projector with a new bulb. I bought one of those LOA dealies (didn't realize how huge it is :-/) Took it apart, and I've come across some snags. First off, the bulb and its system is hooked up to two wires connected to a cap which is then connected to the case (these are not the power cables). I don't know what this thing does (the case is plastic). Because its attatched to the case, I can't fit it inside the overhead projector. Does anyone know what this thing is (I saw the same thing inside the overhead projector... just two wires connected to a cap... not the bulb), and if I need to transfer it?
Second, can I just hook the new lamp up to terminals for the lamp inside the overhead projector? So far, the wires that are connected to the lamp are from a mysterious black box (sorry I don't have pictures), but the lamp is a halogen. The LOA thing runs on 120V AC (straight from the wall). Will I have any success hooking this thing up to the terminals, or should I just run another wire in?
Thanks in advance,
Paza
