has anyone on here built a 12vdc car amp power supply to use 2 aleph 5 mono diy kits in a car for front speakers yet? if so looking for some rough guidance for power supply specs using smps style toroidal transformer
It is SMPS OR Toroid, not both together I think.
Please be clear:
You want to get 115V/220V from 12V, or 12V from 115/220V?
Also, what is the watts rating and speaker size?
The front door speakers would be less than 25W, so 50W total, a 100W supply would work...
The amp is 300W Class A, and you could feed the DC side from a supply that gives the same output as the step down transformers.
How big is your car, you think front door speakers will handle 300W?
That needs a really big speaker, I think.
I think that you could think of a different amplifier if you need to use it in a car for front door speakers.

nareshbrd, using mosfets to drive a toroidal transformer, turning 12vdc battery voltage into +/- 35vdc center tapped i believe. using a timer like most car amps. but driving 2 aleph 5 mono boards. im already running a moddified soundstream reference 1000sx on the front speakers which is 250 watts rms for output. speakers take it just fine, i just dont crank on it. but the jist is a bank of mosfets on a pwm driver ramping up voltage to the rail requirements of the aleph board with enough dc amperage at rail voltage that the aleph channel outputs couldnt use all of what the supply can produce. i have a gain matching device as well to not over drive the aleph channels. i will be running the channels at 4 ohmt is SMPS OR Toroid, not both together I think.
