Hello everyone! Nakmandan here. Some of you may recognize my screen name from other forums I am on. I just joined today and am happy to be here. I have been an audio DIY'er for a few years now and have several repairs and restorations under my belt already.
I have always had the audio bug since I was a teenager and lusted after all the cool equipment in the 80's that I could never afford. Well, here it is 30 years later and what do you know? All this cool stuff is now affordable to me. I started off with a Nakamichi 600 cassette deck and WOW, it sounded good. (That's where I got my screen name from by the way). From there I bought a bunch of Denon separates, lots and lots of Naks, some Pioneer cassette decks and Yamaha receivers plus a bunch of other stuff as well. Repaired and restored a lot of them.
I slowly started acquiring test equipment and over the last few years I have just about everything I need to restore this kind of stuff including a Tek o'scope, Panasonic RF signal generator, Leader signal generator, distortion meter, counter, PS, W+F meter, AC mV meters, Fluke true RMS meter and a set of Teac test tapes plus a few other odds and ends. Bought everything used and had to fix a lot of it.
I retired from the Navy last year so now have a lot more time to work on this stuff in between going to school full time and seemingly never ending house projects!😀
This seems like a great place for the more technically oriented people and I'm looking forward to learning more about this incredible stuff!
