Electronic Goldmine is having a sale on packages of 50 Audio Opto Couplers. Looks like the sale is good for the next coule of days (ends Oct 19). I have no affiliation with them, I'm just passing along a good find. They usually sell these for about a buck each, but for the 2nd time this year I'm seeing them sell a bag of 50 for about $15

I bought a couple of packages of these last time they had a sale like this. They are a little inconstant, and about 1 out of 10 were complete duds. They also do not respond as fast as the more expensive (and a bit rare) vactrol 5C3s. But still, they are good for audio switches (especially when you want a "soft" switching, like a quick fade out or fade in) and the slow response of optos make them especially good for compressor and limiter circuits. Such circuits, being based on feedback principals, usually have a tendency to self adjust and compensate for inconsistent devices. I've messed with them in bench test circuits a bit, so if you have any questions about using them feel free to pick my brain a little (or maybe I should say pick my little brain ;-)
Just passing along a good find.
