Hello Everyone how are you 🙂. I now have the money to buy a good diy dac which can be modified. I have posted before but there is a lot of information on there and I am ready to order and don't want to make a mistake. I have been looking at Lampucera dac kits to modify but I want one that is a good one can any one tell me a good one to buy. I have also seen this dac board it's different from the Lampucera I have seen but I don't know if it's good or not.

How do you want to modify the DAC? If you mean changing op-amps they need to be socketed, not surface mount.
PCBs may not be so easy to modify - the caps and resistors are usually close together and you may not be able to substitute larger or different pitch parts. So you should aim to get it right from the start. If you intend to solder everything onto a bare PCB you may be able to choose different parts more easily than if you buy a built PCB. But check that the surface mount parts are attached if you aren't skilled at surface mount parts.

This DAC and all the versions of it seem very popular.

Do you have a link to the dac board? If its a low-cost Chinese dac board then I would suggest to beware of what you are likely getting into. Even heroic efforts to fix what's wrong with them are likely to end in disappointment. Reason they are so low cost is that they are made with a real dac chip, but everything else on the board is fake, cheap as possible, poor choice of parts, etc., plus the boards are often only 2-layers when a dac actually needs at least 4-layers. Even if 4-layers they are often laid out poorly.
From looking at the link, the dac looks mostly like a junk dac to me. Also, the positive reviews say little or nothing about the sound quality. Mostly they appear to be about communication with the seller.
IMHO you would probably be better off with the AD1862 dac linked to in post #3 above.

I would start by investing in building good power supplies and understanding what chip it uses its limitations. You can probably have a lot of fun with this DAC, but at some point, the tight space on the PCB and circuitry and layout will be a limiting factor. The power supplies can be used for your next project.
Thank you cviller 🙂. What sort of power supply do you suggest for a Lampucera which is better than the one it comes with 🙂.
I don't know Lampucera, but you can find a lot of good regulated PSU designs on this forum or if you want to get something readymade, that is also easy to find. Looks like you need a +5V and a +/- 12V.
... and how will you modify it?bought a Lampucera dac this evening

You can change the op amp some people if you look on the internet change other things but other people have told me not to just incase I break it. You can connect another board so you can connect a computer by usb.
