Hi Dave,
I have wanted to get into a SET/full range system for years. I am finally building a 2A3 amp (Bottlehead) and am looking for suitable speakers. I listen to mostly instrumental jazz with a bit of classical and choral music mixed in. My room is 12x17 and open at one end. I sit about 8-9' from the speakers. I listen at reasonable levels and I am not looking for speakers that will blow the doors off. I like speakers that will disappear and that image well. My current speakers are Sonus Faber Minima Amators which do this trick very well but are probably not really suited to SET amplifiers. I like enough bass for cello and double bass to sound realistic but don't need the ultimate in bass extension and impact to enjoy the music.
I am leaning toward building a trapezoid Mar-Ken. I showed my lovely wife pictures of typical BLH (Dallas II), FGH, and Fonken/Mar-Ken. The BLH were definitely out, the FGH may be a possibility but she preferred the Fonken/Mar-Ken speakers.
I am interested in your recommendation re 10p vs 7p. I am also interested in your comparison of the Mar-Ken vs the FGH. I understand that YMMV but am interested in your opinion.
Thanks,
Mark

The Alpair 10p has more efficiency and better bass. It gives up some midrange DDR to the A7.3, we haven't fully evaluated the A7p. I do have an SE amp installed now, just need to get a fresh set of A7PeN installed in the FH3 to further evaluate them.
One of the SE amps i have here is the older Bottlehead 2A3, need to get one of my pre-amps running before i can use them.

For what it is worth, I listen to my MA10P's in a relatively small BR cabinet driven by Bottlehead 2A3 Paramours. It sounds great and as long as I don't want to rock-out approaching 90db, the 2A3s sound great and I feel they're a nice match. I can't add anything re 7p's as I don't have them.
