6L6 class A single end amplifier

There are lots of 6L6 class A single end circuits. We designed this special circuit which used the classic pentode tube, 6SJ7 as voltage amplifying stage and drive 6L6 or 5881, with tube rectifier 5Z4 or 5Y3. The output power is 6.5W in pentode connection of class A. It is powerful enough to drive loudspeakers at and over 87 dB. It well-matches Mark Audio full range drivers like CHR-70 and Alpair 7.

We selected CELM 0.47uF/400V film capacitors in coupling between 6SJ7 and 6L6. Cathode capacitors are Philips BC 100uF/100VDC. The caps make sound of the amp transparent and detailed.

Hi Alejandro,

Yes, you can change those Chinese tubes with some NOS tubes:
6P3P can be directly changed to 6L6, 6L6GC or 5881
6J8P can be directly changed to 6SJ7 in glass or metal cover
For the recitifier, can use 5Z4P, 5U4G, U52, 5R4G, 5AR4, GZ34, 5Y3......
