Hey everyone.
New here. So howdy dudy!
ok, that's out of the way.
I brought home a nice Philco tube console get up today. It uses 2 6cz5 output tubes. Now it seems to be in damn good electrical shape. However, one of the output tubes glass envelope was cracked at the base.
Now, the originals seem harder to get.
However, I have ton of EL84s/6bq5s.
So, I already looked at the data sheets. And it seams rating of the el84 are good enough to use in the amp.
I have not measured voltages or anything et. Just checking on the viability of the idea.
If this is possible, does anyone have an idea what the real differences would be.
Thanks.
Adam

6CZ5 is close electrically to 6V6, so will need a higher bias voltage than EL84. Higher cathode resistor will do it. But I have a few dozen 6CZ5s - they're not hard to find and not too expensive. 6CM6 is usually a plug-in sub.
