6AK6 low power tube amp finished

In a previous post about low power amps, someone asked me to post about how the 6AK6's sound. They sound great!

This is a 6AK6 push-pull tube guitar amp, which is about 2 watts. It's plenty loud for a bedroom without family members complaining about the noise.

Here's some sound samples. I used a Samick Les Paul with D'Marzio pickups. It begins with the neck single coil to humbuckers, and then bridge pickup. I used an old 10" Celestion Gold speaker.

Nice work! It is funny how powerful a couple of watts sounds. Always makes me laugh when people buy stacks and then have to use a power brake because it's too loud...

I'm building a 7591- based head, should be 30W or so...

Hi, I'm new to this forum but have been building tube amps for several years now. It's nice to find another forum to frequent.
PRNDL, did you end up running your 6AK6's at 180V or did you find a way to control screens at higher voltage? I'm messing around with the 6AK6's now and was curious how others are addressing this. What screen node voltage and what screen resistor to run when running the plates at 300V? I understand that primary load impedance affects screeen current draw too but looking for data points at this time. Thanks.
