Hello,
I recently got LXMini+2 and really like the sound. It offers big spacious sound that is hard to get from boxed speakers.
I would like to ask other LXMini+2 owners what amplifiers use and recommend. I am currently using a cheapo 6 channel class D amp from PartsExpress and would like to upgrade within a reasonable budget.

I found that most of the multichannel amps are AV receivers when I google 6 channel amplifiers.
If you are using LXMini+2, may I know what amp you are powering them with? I see that Emotiva power amp is common choice and wondering if there are better ones out there without spending a lot of money.
I am also okay with DIY route too if it is not too hard to make them.
Thank you very much for your suggestion in advance. 🙂

I use 6 x Hypex UcD180 With 2 SMPS; one SMPS for the bass and one for the other 4 channels. This keeps the LXmini plus Davey subs going along quite nicely and they can rattle things when the volume is pumped up 🙂.
They can easily fit into a standard width case but the back panel can get a bit crowded with 6 lots of outputs, 6 balanced inputs and mains input (and another auxiliary mains out put).

Thank you for sharing.. Hypex would be a great candidate and will keep that in mind.
If I go for DIY route, i would like to place 2 x miniDSP 2x4 kit inside the amp along with power amp module so I do not have to drill 6 sets of inputs but just one set of input for preamp.
I similarly use Hypex modules. Four UcD180s for the mids and tweeters and two UcD400s for the bass (because I had two UcD400s spare from another project). I've put them in three enclosures though - I agree, the back panel and internals of a single enclosure would get very busy.
The cost/quality balance of the Hypex modules long ago made me decide to stop building DIY amps.

Thank you for sharing. It looks like Hypex power module is very popular with LXMini+2.
Dumb question to ask.. Is it recommended to use some kind of input buffer between Power amp module and external preamp?
If I understand correctly, there are many input buffer options for Purify classD amp and not sure if it is the same for Hypex, too.
Have a look at the Neurochrome Audio website. He sells a buffer suitable for both Purifi and Hypex and has technical details about the buffers.Thank you for sharing. It looks like Hypex power module is very popular with LXMini+2.

Thanks, Wombat92. I will check out the site and their input buffer offerings.
