I'm considering a 3 way system under 40 liters.
Then, there are two choices below ;
Case-1. TMW 8" single
Case-2. TMWW 6.5" double
Though, there are pros. and cons., it is difficult for me to decide.
So, I'd know, if you were me, which one you prefer and why.

depends on the drivers, which combination of efficiency, Fb, BSC, SAF is best suited to your goals

I would go with TMW. Deeper and better bass performance IMO.
For the money of two 6,5" speakers you could probably buy a
a great single 8" driver. TMW would probably be less sensitive than
TMWW.
Hi,
No simple answer. Depends on lots of things.
Here are some examples of both around 40L :
3-Way Classic
Poor Man'

Zaph|Audio - ZDT3.5
And a 2.5way : Zaph|Audio - ZDT3.5
FWIW not many 6.5" won't work in a 2.5 way and TMWW
are thin on the ground compared to TMM (or MTM too).
rgds, sreten.

Have you thought of a TMW with a 6.5" mid and a 10" woofer?
*2
It's kinda excessive to have a 6.5" and a 8". If you add the complexity of another driver then you might as well get a 10-12".
Or you could get two 8" and mount them in a push pull configuration that cancels mechanical vibration and reduces distortion massively. Pic stolen from http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/177905-thread-those-interested-ppsl-enclosures.html. The same technique works with sealed if you want that instead.
A pair of 10" is even better of course, but would take up far more space 😉

Is there 10" woofer (not for PA) which requires 40 liters ported cabinet ?
If it is sealed, it may be OK. But, I prefer to ported one...

You could go active with DSP... then you can build whatever box is convenient with whatever driver you have and make it work anyway =)
Or you could do a hybrid setup where you cross passively but have global DSP in front of your source.
Both options would let you adjust the low frequency roll off to the desired one regardless of box dimensions.

Since you didn't mention budget a Volt B2549 would give 30Hz in a ported 30L cab at 86dB 1W/1m and a Volt B2500.1 34Hz in 40L at 88dB.
Hi,
Why not going for a 2.5 way, I've build a pair of Nomex 164, design from Troels Gravesen.
I own those speakers for more than two years now and I still love them 🙂
You can have a look at my blog, few pics from the build process:

If necessary use g*** translate !
