Hi there,
I finished building a 5e3 clone recently. It works and sounds good, but a half power switch I implemented seems to produce fizzy and crackling kind of distortion when turned on. On regular power is seems to sound good.
I've made a 5f6a bassman using similar mod, and it sounds great.
I've looked and tried different things for days, but I can't find a solution.
Things I've done so far:
- triple checked all connection, components, especially in the area of the switch.
- changed 0.1uF coupling caps after PI to 0.022uf.
- installed 500kOhm resistor before the phase inverter.
- tried another output transformer (Hammond 1760E)
- re soldered all the joint that looked even a bit specious.
- changed grounding schemes.
Any tips would be appreciated. I'm out of ideas atm 🙁

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
