500 Watt HT Driver

I am once again asking for some insight. Everyone helped me out ridiculously when I was trying to make the most out of an 8 inch, https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/317372-dayton-8-inch-horn.html . Well the horn is still blasting in the shop! Now I finally have a small surround sound for the living room. I am currently running a Denon X2500 with a 5.1.2. I am using the TQWT 8 from that previous build, and it is not quite what i was looking for as far as low and output. I am running a Dayton SPA500. So the real question is what should a person do for a driver? I have been looking at the Dayton Reference, Ultimax, and kind of been looking Fi audio. I am going to reuse this plate amp. I also stumbled across that Dayton Kraken, little out of the price range plus I dont think 500 watts would run much. I was thinking a ported enclosure tuned around 20-22hz because of the small amp. The room is Pine Paneling, 14x17, 11ft vaulted ceilings. Front mains are cheap old pioneers, about to be replaced by Amiga MTs. Ive read a ton about ultimax in ht, but I am at a crossroads with the wattage and room size. Seems a lot of people are running multiple sealed 18's. That is out of my realm and room size haha! Cabinet size isn't critical, but the wife said no refrigerator size horn.

Thanks!
Eric

Going that deep is hard to do with a small driver, the SB Acoustics SB34SWPL76-4 or the Seas L26Roy can go that low ported within your size and price limits but both need a very long vent. So it will have to be a folded slot or so to fit in the box.

And getting 110dB won't happen with a smaller driver, even not with a TH or a TL, but above 100dB must be possible. For 110dB in that frequency range you need a 15 or 18" at least, and probally multiples of them.

Oh wow, I like the looks of that tl. Honestly I'm on the fence now. Either look into 2x10in TLs, or a 15 passive radiator. I have 2 sheets of 3/4 baltic birch. I think I'll fire up Hornresp and Winisd. Main thing was trying to find a driver to even start modeling.

Thanks!

I quick threw in the 18 in Hornresp. Am I missing something? I literally threw some random numbers and did a real quick wizard, and was already getting a nice response. I am going to try and shrink it before I go any further. Once I get home I will check out that link!
