5" lcd problems

Hi,

I am in the process of building a projector, I am using a 5" lcd, LOA, and a Lens bought at surplus. The problem that I am having is that when I try to project I only get shadows without that much color to them.

Please help

First, you want to make sure you are getting enough power to the lcd. If it is the parts express model, you should haave 12-18 volts dc. Second, make sure the brightness it turned all the way up on the lcd, and the color too. I take it your design is similar to zarks setup? What kind of light sources are you using and how many lumins is it? Is you rsetup enclosed in a box or open? Is there alot of light loss? IS YOUR ROOM AS DARK AS IT CAN BE? You might also be overheating the lcd. I suggest playing some video on the lcd, and holding it over a regular light bulb. If yo see a good picture, you know the lcd is good, and you do not have a good enough light source. If would see shadows still, you probably overheated your lcd and/or broke a cable/part on it.

light power

I'm not sure but don't you mean the LCD is fine but the projected image sucks? That's probably because your bulb isn't powerful enough. It creates a faint image with only dark and less dark stuff in it, no colors, no definition.
Try using a buld that has at least 300Watts. I heard that people sometimes needed 500 Watt or more to get a decent projection.
I am NO expert, I'm just saying what I personally think is right...

Lighting

It was the lighting, I was using the LOA from walmart witch only puts out 8000 lumens. I am trying to get my hands on a 400w MH setup. However, I have one time constraint, I have to go back to college soon. if I can't find a cheap one on ebay in the next few days I am going to go down to the hardware store and buy a halogen lamp. Does anyone know how powerfull of a halogen light I would need to work well as a quick (and temperary) fix?

uvodee

they were all bright enough! i made 3 of them

each containing 2 loa's fluorex

the spacing between loa and lcd is about 2 inches

no hassle and no heat!

i made 3 and sold them right away
i have none left , now i am using the ohp plus panel

LOA

I put two loa's in the box and the image is better, I have them standing side by side. How would you arange them to maximise the light out put. Would building a reflector out of mirrors make a big enough difference to be worth it??
