4-way Altec PA Infos and Questions

Hello to all diy Soundexperts,
I want to build myself a PA (for 50-100 People, electronic dance music) who is Inspired by altec, JBL or Onken to name a few.
I going to build 2 good sounding 3 Way Tops which i also can use at home and 2 18" subs for Outdoor Purposes.
So for the 3 Way tops i tought about the following.
i got myself the CAD plans for the Onken SC-500 inspired Horn from Joseph Crowe which i want to cover the mids and highmids.
Í thought about building some low mid/mid bass cabinet like Altec 817 to match with my Horns.
then I only need some tweeters or something like that for the High end.
I wondered if i could use the 1000HZ version of the Yuichi Horn or do I need a real Tweeter?
I would start building the tops and begin with the Onken Horn.
then i am planing to build the altec Cabinets, so i can messure them before designing the tweeter with a 3 way Crossover.
after i build the tops i would build myself the 2x18 " subs which i want to add if i need some subbass outdoors.
I am wondering if i can do a 2 way crossover for the subs and the tops? So the Signal is running trough 2 Crossovers to the tops. Should be Possible or not?
and how do i split the signal out of my mixing desk (Symetric/3Phase Signal) to get a speaker signal (unsymetric/2Phase) to the tops and a normal audio Signal (symetric/3Phase) to the Subs? Or am i mistaken something here?
Any leads to good sounding drivers with a fair Price are appreciated, thanks in advance for your Answers and Ideas.
Freddy🙂

That is going to be a very large system.
You really should consider using an active crosssover(DSP preferably) and separate amplifiers for the subs, low-mids, and high-mids. The super tweeters can piggy back off the big horns with a passive crossover.
Speakers like this are going to require A LOT of EQ correction just to sound half decent, once you have some pieces built get a copy of Room EQ wizard(free to use) and a test mic and teach yourself to take measurements. Being able to see a speaker spectral response and how different filters affect that and phase response will make getting very good results a matter of a few hours work, the alternative is you can build passive xrossovers and spend the rest of your life trying different drivers and tweaking the crossover to find the best combination.. which may still not sound that good.

Thanks for you answer 🙂
Ok that's true with a DSP I could run more tests faster. I already have rew and a mic for measurements and can work with them, so this shouldn't be the problem. So signalflow looks like this signal from mixingdesk->DSP->3 amps ->speakers ?

Hello,
here a little Update:
I have bought 2 Fostex T90A tweeters to enhance my Horn Frequency.
i would buy two B&C DE 750TN 2" drivers for my horns. where would you cross the tweeter and the horn? I´ve read that the B&C driver should be crossed at 5-7 kHz
I tought about getting the cvr 1004 amp which already has dsp, delay, filters in it so i don`t need to buy the 3 amps. Is this good or should i amplify and dsp seperate?
The Horn is currently made out of birch multiplex by a cnc dude.
Hope you all are doing good🙂

Ok already thought so that it wont be enough.
so you say i need at least 8 18"?
Or you want me to set a fix db which my bass needs to reach and then search for drivers and the enclosures to get in the near of it and still multiply it by 4?
Thanks for your answer🙂

My DE750'S go all the way to 15khz after processing...

No need for them to be separate but... the DSP included in chinese amps isn't always perfectly functional so be sure you research the models you plan to buy, read reviews.

Ok good to know. I gonna try a bit around when measuring the horn and tweeter.
Ok yeah thought also about only getting a 4 way DSP crossover and get used class ab amps. But until now I don't exactly know how I'm gonna power it.
Thanks for your contribution🙂
