3M Overhead Projector 9100 is this a good unit and if so can I retrofit a FXL 410W/82V instead of the ENX-5 360W/86V
Thanks in advance!!
Thanks in advance!!
I had good results with mine even though the lens is only a doublet. I believe the mirror in the head of the unit is just a regular mirror, It always cast a slight haze to the pixels. Outputs around 2800 lumens. Not sure about using a FXL bulb.

Can it be modded or should I just upgrade 😛 - I got it on eBay shipped with the original case for only $55 dollars 😛
It can be modded. Once I started on the fully DIY route, I tried the OHP with my triplet. It fit pretty well in the head. Theres room in the OHP for a double ended or Ushio metal halide, and maybe an icecap ballast inside. The stage can easily to cut to expose more of the fresnel. I was happy with it.

Are you still planning on retrofitting for FXL bulbs? I'm sure you could if you can find a balast. Materials for the hqi retrofit are readily available, but I don't recall seeing halogen ballasts. It might be worth going hqi instead see as you got a good deal on the projector. I'll look around for halogen ballasts though.
