I'm planning on a next, hopefully more definitive, project, since someone can get me drivers otherwise unobtainable or really more expensive here.
I like my actual WAF with 6.5 selaed speakers, so i thought i could point my setup in the right direction getting a better High end.
From my research (mostly here) i think 3fe25 is pretty much as good as it gets on a budget, considered CHN-50 but i would rather go with an 8 ohm driver. (TG9 would be interesting but couldn't source them).
Then i sort of liked the 10F/8424G00 because it seemed less inclined towards highs and beamed more harmoniously. But it's over my budget. (They are selling them quite cheap at speakerland if shop is reliable and someone is interested but they don't send to Spain). Then i found the 10F/8414G10 which seems pretty like the former yet at the same time, pretty much the same as 3fe25. I compared this two links:
https://www.dibirama.altervista.org...f-4424g00-extended-range-4-4-ohm-30-wmax.html
http://www.dibirama.altervista.org/...tal-3fe22-extended-range-3-8-ohm-40-wmax.html
And yes, the SSpeak has a little less distortion, a hair more of bass, and seems a little more consistent in the high-end. But apart from that, the other is more efficient and has like doubled Qms.
I don't want to start hoarding FR speakers so ideally this will be the last for some time (forever tweakable tho), and as close to a studio monitor a WAF can get.
Its that situation were u see that first brand pretty thing thru the window and you loose a little perspective. But from a rational point of view, i seriously doubt i could differentiate those two speakers and one cost 3.5 times the other, specially if i get to tweak them a little.
If u heard both of them, and specially, if you played with both of them, given my situation, what would you do?
Of course i accept new drivers recommendations but i rather just decide on something.
Thanks for getting this far 😉

Is this an existing WAF 2way and if so, what wide band driver is there now?
What is the intended/actual us of the system?.....nearfield, mid.....casual listening?
Location?........free standing, bookshelf, desktop?

I ended up locating TG9 (which seem to beam pretty much like a tweeter) and got 4 of them in 4 ohm. The existing is a vintage 6' fullrange intended for sealed, they get pretty planar from 100-120Hz, with plenty DSP, but sweetspot is really a point in my room, and are subwoofer assisted (30Hz tuned port).
The intended use is for it to become as close to a studio monitor i can get without a tweeter, i don't hear to that much music nor i'm mixing, mastering or postproducing by the time being. But ideally it should work ok for that.
I'm close to become a sound engineer so its for the sake of it itself, but they will also become my main speakers. They will have their own new box, the others will be given away to someone around who needs them.
According to my measurement i think it was Baffle Step my actual system biggest shortcoming, so i intend to solve that with the box itself, not a fan of inductors at all in here, DSP has its own implementation problems (thump when my computer goes to sleep, and potentially others). I may do some op amp active filters before the amp but if i can skip those the better.
I really liked the nearfield listening with my present speakers as the contribution of the reverberant field is real low. My room (17ish sqmeters) ain't treated, actually its quite alive, but i still get a glimpse of recording's natural reverbs.
I think they will be bookshelf, and eventually i can make them a stand or something if needed as eitherway most of the bass will be coming from the subwoofer.
I was thinking about making an elipsoidal Di-pole sealed speaker, two prototypes, one with the speakers along the biggest diameter and one in the shortest one. That may prove to be real difficult, but maybe in XPS (XRK makes me more confident with it) or 3D printing it could be doable.
The Nautaloss II called my attention, maybe with a different front baffle.
But, would't two speakers pointing forward create phase issues at nearfield, which is the intended use?
Best regards!

Too many thoughts and/ideas…….stand back for a moment and establish one goal.
Studio nearfield monitors have a singular purpose……to focus sound without interaction from the room with a reasonably flat response between +/-3db
Sealed midwoofer is good……low group delay so no time smear
Forget the wideband driver for this purpose…..it will NEVER BE FLAT……such a driver does not exist.
NO NO NO open baffle…….it will NEVER translate.

Thanks for your insight!
it would be more reasonable to just make the Bipolar and see what happens, just for learning purposes.
I guess an elipsoidal sealed Di pole may end up being a real good surround... Still i struggled to find some figure of 8 speakers...
And yes it would go far from the walls of the room.
I guess it would be a real 8 for wavelengths lower than 4 times driver's distance.
My biggest concern is to lower diffraction and baffle step as much as posible just with the box design.
TBH i just have some 8ohm amplifiers for the momment until i solder my circlophone but i'm sure i'll want to play a little before that, preferably without burning anything.

for Bipol go for a double horn down 35 Hz look MINI POSAUNE https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/hm-double-bass-horn-mini-trombone.319751/#post-5494908
I love the 3FE22, the 3FE25 is ferrite version of it. See here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...rojects-nice-little-full-range-driver.379277/
