Hi,
I'd like to install a crowbar circuit as overvoltage protection on a 24V power supply. I require an SCR that can withstand 3A for long enough to blow the fuse! (Equipment draws approximately 2A at most). Is BT151 capable?
Can anyone recommend a 'ballpark' device? Ideally, one that is inexpensive ;-)

BT151 is more than adequate. But why is the power supply at risk of overvoltage? Surely the transformer secondary voltage is chosen to suit the maximum expected mains voltage. But frankly, if voltage stability is critical, a suitable regulator is really needed and much more convenient that changing blown fuses.
