For sale now on Ebay is a 250W switchmode power supply designed specifically for the DIY market. As configured it has regulated +/-40V outputs, plus auxiliary outputs of 10V and 15V. It is current limited and short circuit protected, thus providing protection to your amplifier as well. Detailed specifications can be found at the Ebay listing. `It has been incorporated into an amplifier with a pair of LM3886 amplifier IC's, delivering 65Wrms/channel into 8 ohms. This amplifier weighs only 2.5 pounds with dimensions of 9.5 x 5 x 2.5 inches. It is simple to install, just 4 screws to secure, and screw terminal blocks, not pin headers for electrical connections.
An unusual feature of this supply is a small breadboard area in one corner of the PCB. Here you can add circuits for LED displays, fan drivers, and other supply voltages. The plan is to develop a library of useful circuits over time.
The 40V outputs are independent, and can be reconnected in parallel for a single 40V output with greater current handling, good for many "Class D" or switching amps that use a full bridge configuration. This requires the replacement of two SMT resistors on the PCB, the supply can be ordered this way.
There is one for sale currently (at an introductory price), more are available. Search for seller skeggordon to find this item. A website with more detail is going up within two weeks, will post when it is ready. An operations manual will be supplied with each unit, it has information regarding the electrical and mechanical aspects of the power supply required to use this unit with your amplifier.

Thanks, joe for pointing out the incorrect listing number. Apparently the 3D prefix hitched a ride during the cut and paste operation. More photos will be posted shortly.

Joe, some more pictures and the instruction manual will be coming in a day or two. Probably in the form of a website to be announced. The manual is too large to upload to this forum. Thanks for your patience, JG.
Joe, if you like just send a PM to info-at-smoothpower.com and I'll reply with the instruction manual attached.
