Hi, been reading up on this for the last few days, and want to start a project. i want to use something like a 2.5" lcd from a ps2, and i want to use leds, i understand that they might not be bright anoth but am willing to test it.
if im using a 2.5" lcd do i need a frensel cause im still not sure wat they are.
if im not using leds what will be a cheap lighting solution.
would it be best to open the lcd and shine the light through it on to the lens, or are there better setups witha small led.
And i have done a lot of reading just not to sure on a few things.
thanks in advance.

am i right to say that if the lens covers the whole screen i dont need a frensel.

G'day richardgerson welcome to the forum...
You are asking a few questions that have been covered extensively time and time again in this forum...there is a whole thread devoted to building a projector with a 2.5inch lcd have a read through that and the permanent threads here and your questions will be answered.
Good luck with your projector mate 🙂

thanks for the reply. i did do a search but the only thing i could find was a 2.5" lcd projector that used a slide projector, but i want to make mine from scratch.
i understand now what a fresnel is, but i cant find anywhere if its needed if the lens covers the whole screen, or if its need to focus the light into the lcd.
if you can give me the links to theses answers that would be great its just i couldnt find them.
also would that light i suggested give out a lot of light.
i also cant seem to find a diagram of the basic layout which is making thing a bit harder to understand.
thanks

i also want to start mine in the next few days but have no idea what lenses to use and how far everything should be and things like that. as i understand some lenses project things farther than others and such. if my projector is 7 feet away how will i know what lens to use for a 42" picture?
Guys these topics are covered in the forum. My advice is to look at the basic setups, then size these setups to your size of lcd. Your best bet is to read about the slide projection pjs and use them as a refrence. But you can't just waltz in and post how do i do this without doing your homework. I read this forum for a good year and did my own ohp/projection panel setup before i posted about questions/answers. Good luck and happy reading!
