1st build, statement monitor

After picking up woodworking 5 years ago, I decided to build a set of speakers. Went with a hardwood build instead of Mdf with veneer, as I just prefer real wood over mdf. Veneer is also pretty difficult to get hold of here in malaysia.

Some pics showing the build. I did tweak the design a little, and adjusted the port for the slight difference in volume.

Missing from the pics is the flare I added on the port which was routed on to the interior support for the pvc port.

Sorry about the incorrect orientation of the pics. Looked ok on my pc

Very nice! :worship:

I noticed you used PVC for the mid tunnel. Is it 5" ID? When Curt and I designed the Statements series, we weren't able to find a cost effective supplier for 5" PVC, hence the square MDF mid tunnel.

Anyway, very nice work. I hope they sound as good as you'd hoped.

Best regards,

Jim Holtz

It sounds fantastic. I prefer it over my 20yr old mission 753F. I'm driving them bi-amped with an audiolap 8000c and two 8000p.

The mid tunnel is 110mm, about 4.5". It's not as thick as I would have liked, but I have added baffle to that surface too. I can't detect any unwanted reverberations/vibrations in the tunnel.

Thanks for the great design work.
