120V from two transformers

Hi, I got an old Pioneer DVD player ( Pioneer DV-606D ) that works on 120V AC , MAX 25W power consumption written on the back .
At least for testing purposes I was thinking to use two 50VA transformers, one that has 220 to 12V and another one that has 220V to 6V.
Now , if I take the 6V from the one and input it on the 12v on the other I should get half of the 220V - ( so 110V ). ?

I want to know if the DVD is alive ( it has the fuse blown because the person who gave it to me did not read it works on 120V and pluged it in on 220v ... he said it worked for a bit then suddelny died. I'm impressed it didn't die instantly. ) It's power supply is SMPS with no ic , two mosfets, self oscillating circuit . I'm curious if only the fuse or SMPS died, or the whole unit.
