Working with a 2005 Nissan Armada LE which came with an OEM overhead DVD / LCD (roof monitor). The OEM headunit has been replaced with an aftermarket headunit resulting in the OEM overhead DVD unit no longer powering up.
Any suggestions on a work around?

Hmm... think I remember getting one of those to work when at Circuit City. Thing is, I had the oem indash player to check voltages with on the plug that ran from the indash to the overhead. I believe there are a left and right audio you'll need to run into your new indash, and another turn on wire that you'll need to use resistors to duplicate the voltage level to get the overhead to come on. Can't remember any colors though, its been months. I may be thinking of a different vehicle unfortunately, though lol.

If the controls are located on the DVD player, you just need audio R/L, and on/off controls signals. I'd expect +12V, ground, and remote-on input connections, and an output voltage to go back to the head unit when the DVD is activated. (I'm not an A/V guy, but worked with my share of OEM head units way back when.)
Are my assumptions correct ppia600?
In the past, Nissan OEM units were conveniently labeled on the PCB to make deciphering which wires were which, and possibly even voltages, much easier. Turn-on and CD/radio pause functions are likely to be 5V. Many that I found way back when were 12V, but would switch with as little as 4.5V. I used 7805's to drop voltage, but a zener/resistor or voltage divider would have worked as well.
Can you open up the DVD player and have a look?
Of course there may be a plug & play adapter out there already, but that takes the fun out of it.
