All Hitachi Lateral FET amplifier for DIY described by Paul Kemble

    (y) The advise is a real good one, for all others who don't understand why I use fixed resistors for trimming, especially in SMD. Best regards, Patrick

    Preamplifier Dispre 2 - JFET

In your application, Vds doesn't vary much. So impact on id (similar to Early Effect) is less significant. Not the case when used as a follower. Also when matching NJFET to PJFET, the matching only applies to one specific Vds. Toshiba devices doesn't have this issue. Patrick

Very simple quasi complimentary MOSFET amplifier

Patrick, I have not done that mod yet. I read about it, read Hugh's comments on it, and since there was no comments on whether it was absolutely needed or not, I left it out for now. A Trio of 4-Transistor Line Buffers

People say, why keep using unobtanium JFETs ? Apart from that they sound good (to me at least), they provide a high input impedance. So you have no problems driving them with any volume attenuator. Patrick

    Pearl 3 Burning Amp 2023

Ok Patrick, thanks for the information. I have a question about the switch for the power supply. A SPST switch is denoted under comments. But the part number is for an E-Switch SPDT. Is this an error? Does somebody have the correct part number? Thanks, John

Group Buy - Very Simple Almost Universal Speaker Protection

Normally leaded resistors are specified by wattage (e.g. 1/8W, 1/4W, 1W, 2W, ....) SMD resistors are specified by case size (0603, 0805, 1206, .....) Exception is MELF (0204, 0207, ....), but they are normally preceeded by "MELF". I thought it was pretty obvious. Patrick

So the sonic improvement may be due to the increase in bias, rather than anything else. Patrick
