For Sale Ariston CD1 cd player, CDM4/19 + TDA1541A(si)+OPA627BP

Things you have for sale.
British Ariston CD1 CD player. Considered one of the best players in the world in the early 90s. It has CDM4/19, TDA1541A(si), and specially desinged power supply. Op-amps have been upgraded to OPA627BP (4 of them). I have a heavily modified Art Dio (upgraded diodes and power caps, Linear op-amp, upgraded power supply, Dale resistors, disabled ADC section, directly-soldered cables , and more). Using CD1 both as a player and a transport at same time, I find the sound coming out of CD1 to be of much high quality, especially regarding imaging and depth. Subjectively, I would say that CD1 is a very musical player.

My player is in excellent working condition and reads my CDRs without any problems. CDM4/19 has recently been checked by a technician and is in good condition. I would give my player a cosmetic rating of 90%. No remote is included.

A recent CD1 without remote and any Op-amp upgrade was sold in Taiwan for 13500 Yuan (=$400) + shipping. My asking price is $210 with free shipping to the lower 48 states. I will also ship my player to Taiwan and Mainland China for an addition fee of $40. You can also email me your offer if you are seriously interested.

Please email me at mhan@oberlin.edu for pics and more info. I don't have any feedbacks, since this is the first time I sell my gear here. I live near Cleveland and I welcome you to audition this player.

Note: It is suggested on the player that the transport should be removed during shipment. I will do it for you at your request.

I am interested, but needed to know if the Dio was for sale?

I am local so what would the total be if I pick this up.

Hi!

You couldn't email you because of your member preference.

Thanks you for your interests. I accidentally lifted the digital input pad 2 days ago when I was modifying my Dio (it's a never ending project). I still have two more Dios that have been tweaked completely out of shape (in a bad way) and I probably will replace the damaged input/output board with one of thsoe. Unless you want to do the job yourself, this Dio is currently out of commission and therefore cannot be for sale.

For now, i am listening to my Ariston. With a further upgrade to the IV conversion opamps (JRCxxxx to LT1364), this player is just larger than life. ( the sound stage, imaging, depth, and even resolution are miles ahead of Dio) I can't sell it because I don't think I can get the same level of performance with $200. But I can't ask more, since this IS an old player.

If you find this player on ebay at a good price, just grab it. If you don't like it, sell it to me. I need a backup!

It still is for sale, technically! I have gone all digital in the last ten years (have digitalized all my CDs) so not needing a CD player anymore. But it is safely stored in a separate state, TX, which is about 400 miles away from me. So realistically I cannot sell it currently.

Still an amazing and most musical (I would even say magical) CD player -- my best find and mod of a CD player in my DIY life. If you can find one elsewhere, get it.

The caps have all been replaced with extra-long-life, low-ESR caps -- I think mostly Nichicon UHE (and if a value is not available under UHE, Panasonic FC/FM). The output caps are Nichicon bipolar ES (or maybe Elna Silmic II).

I do not anticipate visiting TX anytime soon though.

Where are you located?
