Hi!
Since several months I have to wait say 3 to 6-7 seconds for an answer from the site.
Also, many times, when doing a quote, it will time out and noting happens - so I have to redo it - sometimes up to 3 times before it works. It just ends up without any action done and without any fault indication. It can vary from quite OK during shorter periods but is generally bad.
Macbook pro M3 on fiber-> Wifi.... other sites OK.
Why could this be?

Tnxs!
Cash is a "shift+Reload" right? Many times.
Cookies is a bit more tricky... many PWs to recall but maybe I need to do that - yes.
Quite a few restarts during the time incl. a full restore actually.

All fine on my end. Sometimes forum is slow, but my guess is server maintenance and/or forum core upgrade.
You can try using different dns (try cloudflares, 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1), see if that fixes the issue.

Cleaning cookies and cache won't delete stored password if it was stored within the password management. But it will log him out of the websites he is logged into and has no recollection of the password 😅But deleting cookies & cache should not delete PW on any system. 🙂
The above is right. Deleting the cookie will log you out but it's trivial to log back in if you have the password stored. If not, then prepare first.Cookies is a bit more tricky... many PWs to recall but maybe I need to do that - yes.
The need for repeating a quote, often several times, is the most annoying... how can that be? I just tried it now on Allens post above - marked some text and hit Quote. The where some running progression graphics and then it just stopped. Empty window and no error indication....

I have noticed the same lately though not as often. As i understand it, the dynamic page update network traffic times out.
Edit: The timeout is much shorter than for the primary page load.

Aha - ok, so not only me - thanks.
Now I ditched all cookies - let's see if I see any difference.

Not quite.The above is right.
Cookies are only a (checkable, or not) part of browsing data.Deleting the cookie will log you out but it's trivial to log back in if you have the password stored. If not, then prepare first.
Just as Passwords.
Never delete things unknowingly. 😉
This option can keep you logged in by storing a cookie. More information on this technique can be found here - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17769011/how-does-cookie-based-authentication-work
How cold, but you misunderstood me.
I was just saying that almost every browser out there offers the ability to select (or unselect) what you want to delete and what you want to leave in its place about the browsing data.
That way one can delete Cookies (and, sure, you will be logged out on the first page refresh), but not stored Passwords.
So that one won't have to re-enter the passwords one unknowingly deleted.
I hope it was a little helpful and also a little clearer now. 🙂

If you delete cookies you will be logged out on the first refresh of the page in any case, whether or not you have saved passwords and whether or not you have "Passwords and other sign-in data" checked.if the password is not stored in the browser then unticking passwords and other sign in data will not prevent you losing access.
The only thing that changes is how easily you will log back in if you uncheck deletion of your saved passwords.
Edit to add: However you can prevent the cookies of a single site are not deleted while all the other cookies will be, that way you will never lose access for that specified site.

I always used "Stay logged in". After scratching all cookies, it seem that quote now work OK after several trials. Good - thanks!
But I have an other one.... hitting the Bell when indicating new events has started to bring me to a new webpage with the notifications instead of the drop down menu. Why would this happen? It's now and then.... but more now... 🙂

Try this if you haven't had an improvement by cleaning cache and cookies. It's possible your isp dynamicaly gave you dns address which has some issues with forum server. Google "change dns on macos -enter your macos version here-" and it will show you a simple to follow instruction how to do so. Use primary 1.1.1.1 and secondary 1.0.0.1, those are cloudflares an and quite fast. You can try using different dns (try cloudflares, 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1), see if that fixes the issue.
