Has anyone ever shipped compression drivers to Germany from the USA? When filling out the customs documents, its saying that speakers are a restricted item. I dont understand why, aside from perhaps the solder in them adhering to ROHS standards. Its actually the US customs being picky here, not the EU or Germany.
Anyone else been in this situation?

Yes, i’ve run into this before. My father tried to send me some drivers from Virginia to Austria, apparently it’s due to the magnets. There are some sort of restrictions on strong magnets in airplanes, that’s the issue. I can’t see why that would be a problem, but apparently the Postal Service can……
The Part about it that bothers me is the fact that companies ship drivers all over the world, and I am 100% sure they don’t all ship them on big slow boats. Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems like a double standard.
How did my dad do it? I believe he wrote auto parts on the box.😂😂
That could get you in trouble though. You could also just get super technical and write- large coil acoustic transformer device…. In my experience, the IQ of most postal workers is in the double digits so it might work out.🫣

HF Driver's are allowed in checked luggage or hand bags during flight?
Easier way to carry, if allowed!

I as well think the magnets are the problem. Companies will have to make sure the magnetic force outside the shipping box is below value xyz, given by the shipping company. AFAIK ground/sea shipping allows for higher values, still need to verify with the shipping company.
It is probably the best idea to ask your shipping company, how to ship the drivers, they should have someone in the knowing.
However a large enough shipping box should be good enough, IMHO.

Magnetic compasses are used as backup navigation aids and are thus safety critical sensors on every aircraft, large magnets have a large sphere of influence. There is an abundance of caution involved in aviation safety, and since an air-freight package has no prior knowledge of which type of plane it will be on it has to conform to the most restrictive craft's requirements, just in case. There are some sort of restrictions on strong magnets in airplanes, that’s the issue. Well, these drivers I'm trying to ship have internal magnet motors which concentrate the flux inside the driver. They're inherently shielded, so there's almost no external flux leakage, unlike the large external ferrite magnets found on larger traditional cone drivers. I'm aware of the issue, as I used to have pilot smaller aircraft myself.
I didn't try fedex or UPS yet, mainly because I was told this is a German import issue, not a concern of the shipper.
I can't imagine that something which came from the EU (Italy) isn't allowed back into the EU. That makes absolutely no sense at all. These are B&C drivers which can be purchased almost anywhere around the world.
