The Sikaflex looks like something I've used. Does it remain soft?

Polyurethane of that type makes a good CLD layer. The resistance when deforming it is noticeable, and it outweighs the springiness. You don't want to make the layer too thick, though.

Sorry for the late post but I just noticed this thread. Look into https://specialtyresin.com/collections/flexible-casting-resin/products/flex-it-40 It's a 40 Durometer adhesive.
