My Garmin Nuvi with Euromaps gave out -- anyone recommend a new one?

My Garmin Nuvi GPS, the one with European maps, isn't taking a charge. While I can use Google or Apple Maps on the iPhone I've found out that you can wind up on a C-Road in France behind some fella's harvesting. Moreover, when we went to Ireland the cell service was spotty and we had to drive until it became operational again.

Garmin no longer makes an automobile version with Euro maps. Even they suggested buying one in Europe.

Here we get spare batteries, the repair people swap them out in cell phones all the time.
Open case, then solder job, remove old, put new, then assemble.
They even have 'shock' machines....a 12V shock to the lower voltage lithium battery revives it.
YMMV, it could simply be a corroded wire.

Use broad flat blade with thin edge to open it, be careful.

Google Maps girl voice messages can divert you through congested streets, it tends to give shortest route., otherwise a simple low end Android phone works well enough, buy one with GPS, use a competing progtam for Google Maps, there must be one.
