Using an audio amp as a regulated 120Vac bench supply?

Anyone here ever use a spare audio amp as a sort of 'bench power supply' for a second amp?

I'm a city dweller and the power line at my place wanders constantly. I would love to have a regulated 120Vac source of power on my bench. I've got a spare Hafler amp sitting around (lol doesn't everybody?) and a couple of filament transformers I can run backwards to step up to 120... hmmmm... I bet it would work...

We used McIntosh amplifiers to drive the magnets in the Solid State Physics Lab in the early 1970's.
The reverse transformer trick worked for providing bias in some ham radio gear -- but not a lot of current. You can try it under load and see how hot the transformers get with an IR thermometer.

Believe the issue has been approached with other methods. Remember it is RMS 115 to 122
The peak to peak a little bit higher. So it would be a exploration in one heck of a audio amp.

How clean are pure sinewave converters these days, run one from a 12 / 13.8 volt battery source
Hobo Freight sells them in 1000 to 3000 watt pretty cheap these days
