Help with building an inexpensive active subwoofer for a tube amplifier
Hello everyone, I’d like to explain my situation. Right now, I have a Yaqin MC10L tube amplifier and B&W DM601 S1 speakers. I changed the tubes in the amplifier to EL34 Marshall and Russian 6n2p-ew. When I used New Mildton 150 speakers, the bass was OK, but I had to replace them with smaller ones because my wife didn’t like them in the office (about 36m²). So, I got the idea to add a subwoofer. I searched through various forums and found some really good DIY projects, but either they are too expensive, or the woofer is no longer available, or there is no shipping to my country. I found a project for the Tonsil GDN 20/80/2 with a bass reflex box of 35L or a 20L closed enclosure, but there are no reinforcements (is that possible?). There’s nothing about the amplifier. The best option would be some kind of kit, like from AliExpress. Please help. My budget is $130 for the speaker and amplifier.

OK, nice subwoofer, but the amplifier doesn't have a sub out. I’ll have to connect it via high-level input.
Would have to look at the manual, there is subs which accept speaker level inputs.
Other users have posted before being concerned if a speaker level input is compatible with tube output transformers.
Answer is yes they are.
Just a matter of finding a model in your area, leading back to the first question.
It is often nice when the sub has speaker level inputs and also includes a high pass which goes to the external speakers/ satellites

Adding subs to tube amplifiers is often challenging. Deep bass that you would want to send to the subwoofer might not make it THROUGH the output transformer. With inexpensive chi-fi, the transformer bandwidth is often limited. Unless what you want is a LOT of 60-Hz bass, which is often the case when adding subwoofers. But 30 Hz just might not pass or at least be seeing elevated distortion. High pass filtering the mains doesn’t help, if the limitation is the usual primary inductance.
When building your own, the solution is to engineer in a subwoofer output, right after the volume control.
