MA drivers in "gold, copper...) FR with woofer design advice needed

DDVP-20(TQWT) or FH-XL for the M200

Which one would do the best overall level of playing low enough without using a sub, hopefully?

I overlooked the Silverflute W14 you mentioned, just looked at the enclosure design, will look into it more. Just did, too boring looking for us🙂

NEED copper, got to have copper...

BUT, if there is a speaker out there that is just plain better in all ways than any talked about so far, even if quite costly, I am willing to save up to buy them even if not copper but might be after I build something less expensive to start out with. Sondido?

Thanks,
Rick

Thanks!
I saw something about the Joan but could not find it again, do you have a link, etc?

If it is a bigger version of the FHXL then it would be too big for the space I have available.

I am not all in for the M200, just seems like a nice way to go, mostly I just want to see if I can get a full range to play down low enough to run without a subs but if I must I can certainly go with them.

Any suggestions that would work, not worried about driver cost if I only need one driver per side and no crossover.

Thanks again!
Rick

Cindra,
Thanks for the pics, looks great, glad it has good bass as well🙂

Dave,
I can make that fit in our space, looks like it will handle the MA200 fitment wise just fine, very cool indeed, thanks!

I can get BB ply here, my favorite material back when I was into high end car audio comps and have built speakers with it.

What do you think about a solid walnut front and walnut cabinet grade ply for the rest?

Also I emailed but not heard back, please help me figure out how to make the donation for the plans for the big FH.

Thanks
Rick

When I click on the link to that says send donation to diyAudio.com if shows not found. When I click to send email it comes up with a click Allow, which does not show up.
This is on a secure browser.

I tried Edge and got the same result for the payment link and for the email link it also shows nor found.

I can make a donation to this site from here but the lowest one is $20 which is not a problem at all, will gladly so do.

But email does not seem to be working and I tried copying an email address I found on one site, forget which one, still no response.

Thanks,
Rick

I am concerned with how delicate the cone material is and do not like grills but have had to make custom ones for car audio when the very expensive mids and tweeters were in the kick panel area, pointing up and back for proper alignment. (and phenomimal staging, etc) I had to remove them for a proper demo or competition judging, even had the top judge step on one after telling him to be careful, when, no damage to a 4 digit driver.

That said, is there any type of protection I can use, at least for general listening sessions where we are not sitting down and paying critical attention?

I am thinking a wire type grill like used over a fan in some computer uses, etc but more specific to not interfere, or at least as possible, in the wave form of any, for the bandwidth or at least less important areas?

I could even form one and solder it up if I knew what to design to.

Thanks,
Rick

Dave, I just made a $20 "donation". Yearly membership was the only option and other memberships, nothing labeled donation.

I am trying to send you the copy of the receipt but when I pick click on your site it opens up a window asking me to pick the app to send it with but does not show my email apps and I cannot open them except in my browser, either Firefox or Duckduckgo, which are far more secure and private than Edge, etc.

I have tried several ways to get this to work and nothing does.

If you send me your email address I can send the receipt that way or if you have another way please let me know.

I am ready to get the big Joan FH plans so I can start looking into materials, I hope we can sort this out soon🙂

Thanks
Rick

I does not show up in my browsers, Firefox or Duckduckgo nor does it show up in Edge, just directs me to pick the app to use but does not list the email apps I use. I have tried many times to get around this including looking into program files in Windows, they just do not show up.

Sorry to be a pain, perhaps you can send it in a direct message or send an email,, no more options here unless I sign up for a different email account.

Perhaps you can look into this app to find I have just paid in and was sent the receipt to my email address ftrv2014@protonmail.com

Sincerely,
RIck

Thanks,
That was easy, relatively, it kept deleting the content when I hit the send button so I had to copy and past it in instead of forwarding it but now it shows it went out properly.

Much appreciated🙂

I have sheets of 3./4 cabinet grade maple ply, any conversion info I would need to use it for everything except the front?

I am thinking of using solid Walnut for the fronts, any additional bracing, etc needed if I do so?

Thanks again!
Rick

Thanks Dave🙂

You are correct, I should of remembered about the actual thickness of pl in the US, nothing to do with turning 73 in May 😉

I will check out the plan set and make adjustments or just buy new ply that is 18mm.
