Greetings from Vancouver, BC, Canada

Hi all from Vancouver, Canada.

I'm mechanical designer by profession and I've worked in some audio equipment projects in the past. I love hifi equipment and spend lot of time listening to different styles of music
Since I was a kid I've been tinkering with electronics watching my dad repairing radios, amplifiers, etc.. and I really enjoy DIY.
I came to this forum with the idea to learn more about speaker design.
Currently would like to find a DIY kit or guide to built similar speaker to the Totem Sttaf, Arro, Hawk, Forest, Spendor A2 and similars.

Thank you for accepting me!
Best,
Henry

There is software available to aid speaker design. If a vendor does not provide Thiele Small parameters, then perhaps you should look elsewhere for drivers.

My Brit buddy Howey lived in Van and had speakers made in China. We worked together in Edmonton on the 80's. He passed a few years ago now, but I think he was happy in Van. I like the area too, but it is a "busy" place.

Hi,
you found the right place for your project.
Do you want to build something better than your examples?
What about a combination of the Scan Speak D2904/980000 and the Purifi PTT6.5X04-NAA-08 ?
Build a nice vented cabinet about 100cm x 22cm x 25cm deep, fit a matching crossover and you are done with a speaker much better than anything on your list. OK, not really cheap, but something you will not be able to buy finished, even for 4 times the money.
If you are interested, there even is a plan for the x-over.
