WTB Mark Johnson's UDP3 Umbilical Cable Driver for Pearl 3 boards

I am looking for a couple of Mark Johnson's UDP3 boards with reasonable postage to the UK.

One possibility is to order ten UDP3 boards from a fab, and pay GBP 21. Tell the fab to ship them to your address in UK, then give away or sell any extra boards you don't want. Price quotes from www.pcbshopper.com below.

The .zip file you'd upload to the fab's website (CAD format "Gerber") is attached to post #1 of the UDP3 thread.

Thanks Mark! And for the designs... Actually that's just what I'm doing - lead-free HASL, 1oz copper - but I thought I'd ask first.

I'm not too sure how much demand there is in the UK/EU, but I'm going to order some of manniraj's pcbs for the Talema too in case anyone else is interested, let me know.

OK it's been quiet so far so looks like I'm on my own atm. If it isn't going to be too difficult, I'd like to modify the spacing of the input pins from 6.35mm to 5.08mm to take pluggable terminal blocks (as well as the Phoenix ones).

I understand the following process should work, but I'm not familiar with Kicad:

• draw the schematic in Kicad
• import the gerber files,
• link to the schematic, and
• edit the layout.

Is this feasible, or is there a better way?

I have never tried it myself, nor have I ever wanted to try it, so I have no information and no opinion

I think there's a KiCad discussion thread here on the Forums somewhere, maybe the real experts hang out there, people who have real experience

Well I'd rather not redraw the pcb from scratch - too risky - but I found a tutorial here: https://forum.kicad.info/t/reverse-engineering-kicad-project-from-gerber-files/30903
so I'll give it a shot when I've time, and see how far I can get.

If it doesn't work I've still got your good working layout 🙂
