Lii Audio (not Lii Song) from Full-Range to Coaxial drivers! New models

As some of us quickly learned from this thread that Lii Audio (established in 2006) is not Lii Song (established in 2019) now it's easy to define the original manufacturer by a line of brand new Coaxial Drivers.

As a fan boy of Tannoy I'm glad the Lii Audio (not Lii Song) is now making not only full-range, but new BIG Coaxial Drivers.

In this thread I want to discuss their new line, please do not post here about Lii Song as they have been separated from each other due to war between two ex partners. This is why you will not find coax drivers in the Lii Song catalog.

I hope Lii Audio will continue manufacturing unique drivers and will be able to expand their sales internationally, at the moment you can follow them on instagram for updates.

If some of you will find any reviews or have personal experience with any of Lii Audio COAX drivers please post in this thread.

On Ali Express for international buyers at the moment I can see '12 inch (C1202) , also '15 inch (H1502) and even '18 inch (Lii Audio TRIAX 18 and C1802) models and they are working on a bigger size as you can read on instargam page.

Some of them are good looking units, but pricey! What about sound quality?

For coax, it is customary to provide data for the woofer and the tweeter separately. I have no idea how they came up with the curves provided.

And I didn't have time to check, but hopefully the data will not be a mess like the previous drivers made. It was inconsistent across distributors and some of it was wildly off.

There are no distribution internationally for Lii Audio as far as I know, the drivers you're talking about provided by distributors worldwide are from another company called Lii Song (an ex partner of Lii Audio, a salesman who decided to be on his own, but the one who registered web domain called Lii Audio to sell his Lii Song drivers, crazy story described in the linked thread I posted above, it's a long read).

No! Why? Just because I discovered their instagram and new coax drivers? Or because I am a new poster on this forum? The story about those guys is like a detective movie! Internet search for Lii Audio is much harder than for Lii Song btw. Without this forum and this thread it was very difficult to understand who is who.

New coax drivers look promising and I want to find people who auditioned them, personally I use Tannoy System ‘15 DMT mk2 as my reference, and this is why I prefer coax over full-range, here is my system.

Not an excuse for the very limited data offered, if any of it is real, as they are on sale at different stores.

Here:

And here:
https://www.dhgate.com/product/lii-...try=CN&shipType=Seller-Defined STD Logitstics

Love the huge price difference.... not.

Funny that the second site mentions that they did not bother with a complex crossover, but opted for a "simple" one. So, probably just a cap on the tweeter. To pair with a 12", 15" or 18" woofer? yikes....

I'll reserve judgment on these until someone has a pair in hands and actually measure them. The whole thing, T/S, impedance, FR, distortion,...
Those impedance plots given by the company look so.... perfect, and wrong if it's the combined of woofer + tweeter.

First, this is a coax but the graph doesn't show the tweeter. Every company I know that makes a coax gives that information.
No Le, no XMax, ...

And from reading other threads about Lii where people find out that the specs published online are way off.
So, until someone decides to buy a pair and confirms whether the data is correct or completely made up, I would be wary of anything published by them.

After reading this review in Stereophile about Canadian speakers I'm curious about those Italian Coaxial 12' and 15' inch drivers.

Drivers available from the manufacturer's distributors worldwide, probably it is a better alternative to Chinese products.
I already requested price from my local dealer.

Here you can find all specs for '15 inch coaxial driver, model 15HX500
and here for a '12 inch model 12HX500

History of the manufacturer is impressive: "Fabbrica Italiana Altoparlanti S.p.A. is founded in Milan in 1958 At the end of the 60s, Faital becomes one of the main Italian loudspeaker manufacturers, accounting for 40% of national demand..." read more about Faital

Faital coax drivers installed in the beautiful Altec-style cabinets made in Montreal, Canada by Heretic.

Anyone can comment about drivers?

Faital makes excellent drivers. Often oriented towards pro sound, making drivers with high sensitivity.

Their production is very good, along with great quality control.

They are available easily in Europe, and not so easily in other parts of the world. So, yes, for someone living in Europe, it's a no-brainer.

The original Lii audio has no instagram, it's an old chinese artisan builder that is not selling outside china and don't speak something else than his local chinese language. He is not interested in sellling outside his local area was told to me. So this looks very suspect, like another scam on the reputation of that old builder.

@waxx every product from original Lii Audio first introduced on their instagram now and then available from their shop on AliExpress. I saw their new limited edition 21'inch full range drivers on instagram profile before they started selling them on AliExpress. They could hire someone who speaks English or they can use google translate, it's stupid not to use instagram for manufacturer without his own site. Anyway, I don't care about these Chinese games anymore, for me it's obvious who is who.

The review by Herb Reichert is positive.

"As much as these speakers look like vintage Altecs, they do not sound like vintage Altecs. Compared to the various Altecs I've owned, or to Alex Halberstadt's Valencias, which used to belong to Art Dudley, the AD614 is dramatically smoother, more precisely focused, and more evenly balanced across its bandwidth. Art thought speaker imaging was overrated, but I loudly disagreed. For me, if tone, texture, and tempo are properly recovered, then vivid imaging is added proof that a majority of small-signal info is getting through.

In my room, with my sources and amplification, the broad-chested Heretics project the widest, most intricately focused and evenly lit soundspace I have encountered, and they did it while sitting only inches from the wall.

he Heretic AD614s played larger, louder, and more electrifying than my Falcons, Magnepans, or DeVores. They sounded more like studio monitors than Harbeth's 30.2 speakers. But I doubt they sound much like any contemporary speakers you are familiar with. I could always hear the paper in the Heretics' cones, and I was never not aware of the location, mass, and volume of their thin-walled boxes. But for me, those things were more of a comfort than a distraction.

You know how I'm always saying that I can't find what I'm not looking for. Well, the Heretic AD614 seems to be the kind of loudspeaker I've been searching for. It works well with all types of amplifiers, suits my taste in sound, and is sized perfectly for my room. I am happy I discovered them. Give them a listen. These Heretics might be the speakers you've been wishing for, too."
