Been thinking about something (parts degradation over time)

One of my Outlook reminders is to power up dormant equipment every 90 days in the hopes that it will keep the capacitors happier. I have an NAD integrated amp in this category, and it definitely takes longer to get from standby to operating mode when it is unplugged for extended periods. I assume that's because it's waiting for voltages to stabilize before it comes all the way online.

Even though the capacitor plague is supposedly over, it still seems like equipment is dying faster these days than it used to, and capacitors often seem like the explanation. I'm not sure if that makes taking better care of the capacitors more important or more pointless.
