Right now I have a 3 way system consisting of SB34, AC130F1 and 27TAC/bg. I am thinking of going with the Satori Textreme tweeter. My thinking is that the Textreme and AC130F1 are similar materials (composites) and would probably integrate better than the current set up. What are your thoughts? Am I misguided?
I find paper cones and titanium diaphragms blend seamlessly if the engineering is correct. No distortion harmonic or intermodulation in either product at the frequencies and volumes used. Flat response within the frequencies allowed by the crossover. No resonances in the cabinet or room. Limited diffraction off the edge of the drivers and case.
I was going to buy a textreme CD (Eminence N314x-8) but the response was bumpy and low from 10 khz to 20 khz. I can still hear to 14 khz. So I bought titanium N314T-8 which rolls off smoothy 3 db at 11 khz and is gone by 16 khz.

Well, that Seas tweeter is quite nice, and I bet it integrates well with the Audax mid. I have heard it sounds very warm for a metal tweeter, which I think is evedent in the gentle slope of the frequency response. I don't think material matching between drivers is that important.
But that Satori tweeter is gorgeous, especially with the metal guard. I have the regular soft-dome Satori, and it sounds excellent. If you have the money, the Satori is a good upgrade and definitely eye candy.
