Mezzo Calpamos

with MDF you get what you pay for: a cheap material that sounds cheap..." is a quote from Mezzo Calpamos "The Cabinet"
description.
Yes. From the same person eho rates and sells capacitor sound quality by ear. It just happens that whatever has the highest price tag (and gives highest profit for sales) comes out ontop 100% no exceptions 🙃

This guy knows how to design loudspeakers, but it's true he sells expensive caps that are in reality not better than cheaper ones as better. But many do (even Troels). That does not mean his designs are bogus, the old Calpamos is a very good design of it's kind and i suppose the new design won't be that bad neighter (on his reputation). So dimissing his designs for the fancy caps is a bit ridiculous.

Who said that except from you?

Just take the 'snake oil' jargon with some skepticism.
Like that MDF enclosures sounds "cheap".

And that capacitors sounds better the more expensive they get, without exception is well...
Anybody that claims to hear distinct differences in capactitors used in a XO with other components, while influenced by the normal room interactions. Can't be taken for much but confirmation bias or a intent to make money (which is noting exclusive to him indeed) or both.

I take everything with a bit sceptism actually, because everybody got his own agenda. But today everything, even speaker building is so polarised that every deviation of agreeing with your opinion seems to be a reason to attack people for many. I don't, i look at the good sides and what i can learn from it and disregard the bad sides as everybody, including myself got them also, some more than others.

But what i want to say is that the basic designs of Humble Home Hifi are well done and their crossovers do work. They only could be a lot cheaper for the same result. A bit like Troels is also...

And btw, i also think good plywood (birch or other similar) is better than mdf for speakers, but that does not mean you can't build a top notch speaker with MDF. It happens all the time btw, it's just it could be done easier with ply.
