Hello, recently looking into all sort of battery power supply solutions
for starting out and getting some kind of reference to go from i wanna build something similar to this one: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/1005005947064087.html for 5V output
consisting of these parts:
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005965787184.html (outputting 5V)
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005006246781194.html
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005007103958671.html
https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005005727166588.html
4x Molicel P26A 18650 Cells in 2S2P configuration
2 Switches (like the LHY power supply), one for charging one for load
gathering mainly from google or youtube this should work out just fine 🙂

So, the first battery power supply is built powered my audio interface with it which is usually powered by a Ifi iPower X
i used my DIY usb filter with an 1,5F supercap to feed external power to the interface and compared both supplies
battery sounds slightly more rounded with darker background will do some more comparisons here tho i feel like the difference wasnt much off to the ifi it feels like it comes down here to the regulator used and possibly a filterbank ala supercap or electrolytics right before the output as i heared way bigger differences putting a supercap inbetween before
one possible tweak i saw on a commercial audiophile power supply is to connect earth ground again to the battery power supply, maybe worth a try

Actually.... i now know the reason why they sounded somewhat similar.... it was night-time at my first trial..... the difference was 2-3x more audible at day as i suspect the AC line got loaded with outside noise (i have power conditioners, but there is no "perfect" power conditioner), this kinda makes me believe the isolation part actually plays audibly a role here
i just found this :
https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/alim...e-lithium-18650-with-protections-p-13079.html
by the looks of it, it includes everything i done on my DIY unit with seperate boards into one unit, minus the regulator and its 3s1p instead ..... and its only 12-14 euro, will definitely try this one out 🙂

And this one seems to be a rebranded version from dayton audio:

also some cable sets:

https://variant-hifi.com/elektronik...-switch-package-for-lbb-3-18650-battery-board
will probably get aluminium case to slab something together with variable output 🙂

someone compared the dayton board with a pure battery as it seems... look for yourself 🙂
further tests have to confirm, but my previous tests with this: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005004558856070.html was really positive, noticeable improvement over just the ifi power X, so after isolating mains maybe the next step would be to improve the regulator output
this might also have one crucial positive over ian canada pure battery, batteries are actually not "noiseless" when loaded and if i understood right, the more current you draw the noisier they get, after isolation mains EMI the next step would be to use a high quality noise rejecting regulator plus maybe a final supercap buffer to get close to perfect power
instead of trying to find a suitable battery solution (which i was trying to figure out the past 2 weeks), i might just go with the dayton board and concentrate my efforts on regulator/supercap buffer and grounding scheme as this seems to be crucial too (heared with both the ifi ipower and battery a improvement grounding the system seperately)
---------
Actually another very good comparison would be too build a supercap buffer, and compare it on the ifi ipower vs battery to see if there even is a difference after a "near perfect DC source" like a supercap buffer as these also act as a super nice noise filter starting at a few Hz, it would be great to know
