800W RMS on 2K amp?

I’ve got 2 400W DD audio 510Ds running on a crown XLS2000. 2 cube box tuned to 37hz with a 6” aero port. I can either run the 2 10s on separate channels at 8ohm each (theyre D4 coils) to give them 375W each, or run them on one bridged 4ohm mono channel for 2100W.

Would it be a good idea to just run a -3dB preamp on my DSP so that I can push roughly 1K max instead? My logic is that the 2 375W at 8ohm is peak power, so they won’t be receiving more than 300W realistically. Then setting ~1K to be my max power means I’ll actually be pushing more like their 400W RMS into them. Thoughts?

Depends on the content and usage. If you run normal program power to the speaker, you hook em up bridged and no worries. They will handle some peaks above specs. If you run em hot, do bass tests or listen to heavy music, go with the weaker setup. You'll be losing something around 2dB realistically anyways, and that's not very important difference at all.

Typically I'm listening to rock, and sometimes hiphop. More often than not I don't really need that extra low end bump from my subs.

Does it also make a difference with what source I'm using? I need to crank my amp volume way up when listening to regular music, but test tones I need the volume lower to get the same output. If I'm running off a weaker signal, eg from my computer through spotify rather than a test tone app, am I right in saying that the spotify output isn't loud enough to push the amp to full power?

It can be that way with certain sources. If you have "some brain", you can certainly use the overpowered solution and behave around it. Normal program content will not harm the speakers. Heavy test tones could. But in extremes, these could harm the speakers using less power. Either through clipping, or poor cooling at box tuning frequency when the cone and coil do not move much, therefore not cooling down. It either takes brain or good processing for speaker to survive. For underpowered solution, you can have less brain, but no half brain or no brain, otherwise you'll burn down about anything...
