MELF metal film is better than other SMD resistors?

they are magnetic, so maybe not compared to some of the high end non-magnetic thin films.

if you are designing yourself just use CMF over MELF, find the right size SMD pattern that will allow you to mount them with leads flat against the PCB

A simple question for those who have more experience in audio projects.
Typically they have more material so benefit from reduced field-strengths in operation, enabling greater linearity (although all metal film are extremely linear anyway).

SMT resistors come in (at least) two kinds, metal film (called "thin film"), and metal-oxide (called "thick film"). Use thin film SMT resistors for where high linearity matters. Or MELF of course.

Being magnetic isn't an issue in signal circuits - it can matter for speaker outputs where many amps can flow and develop measurable non-linear back-EMFs from ferromagnetic materials. With a few mA this is not an issue.
