Calling all Calgarians!
It seems we have a bit of a diyAudio continent in Cow Town. Notably, @bxt2008, @leadbelly, @kirks, and likely others. In a recent thread I floated the idea of a get-together over a few pints at some point and there seemed to be some interest.
So how about this: We meet at Two Pillars Brewery (910 Centre ST N) at 8pm on Wednesday January 15, 2025. The idea is just to put a face to the user ID and to chat/BS about all things audio.
Please respond below by January 7 if you plan to make it. If it turns out we'll be more than Two Pillars can accommodate I'll find a larger venue that's reasonably central.
Hope to see you at Two Pillars!

Hello fellow Calgarians. I admit to feeling a little disappointed about not finding this thread earlier, as I really would have liked to have attended the inaugural “Calgary DIY Audio Club” this month. I do hope this group plans more of these meetings, as I would certainly like to attend the next one whenever it comes up.
Some Background:
When I was living in London U.K. (98-2013) I joined another lively audio club (the still active: London Live DIY HiFi audio circle) audiocircle@groups.io | Home From the website:” AudioCircle audiocircle@groups.io , The London DIY HiFi Circle is an informal group of members with an interest in the advancement of do-it-yourself audio reproduction. It has been active since October 1990, has a current membership of around forty, and has monthly Zoom meetings. Although the group is based in London UK, there are also members spread across the UK and in other countries”
So, way back when I joined the LLDIYHiFi club, in early 2000, they held monthly pub nights in central London, along with periodic home meetings where a member would host an afternoon with their system. After leaving the UK, I kept up with the club via the website, and then during covid the members switched to monthly zoom meetings, which I make an effort to participate every chance I get (just had one today actually).
Every so often, I would scour the internet to see if something like this would ever start up in Calgary, and I always seem to be a year or two late for anything that looked promising. Now that I have found this thread, It would be really great to get out to a pub and meet some more like minded audio diy enthusiasts here in Calgary, so please let me know when you have the next meeting at the Two Pillars because I will make every effort to come out for that event.
Hope to see you in person soon,
Jack Bouska

I would love to see some kind of audio fest in Calgary. Years ago I attended a fest put on by a guy from Head-Fi. He managed to get around 30-40 people to show up for a headphone audio geek fest on a Saturday afternoon. He just rented a small ballroom at a hotel and we all chipped in to cover the cost. I thought that was pretty neat.
I couldn't find any DIY audio meet-ups either, so I decided to start one.
We'll have more meetings. In fact; let's just put one on the schedule right now. I unilaterally declare that April 23. 7.30PM will be our next meet.
The brewpub format seemed to work well, so we can do that again. I'm thinking to meet at Citizens Brewery this time. 227 35th Ave NE.

They've been around for a while. I first visited them in 2017. They make good beer. The food is decent too. Not gourmet but it also doesn't try to be.Citizens brewery, not familiar
