Hi guys.
This time a client took a Marc Levinson No. 23 amp to my workshop. It helped him to get it out of the car. Think I injured my back...
He just bought it from an older gentleman and wants me to check it out first.
After powering up, I noticed a difference in output levels. I already downloaded the manuals for this beast.
I think that a recp job is overdue, afer 30+ years,
Any advise on how to proceed?

I know they are selling restoration / recap kits for old tube amps. Would be amasing if there was a kit for this Lenvinson amp...
I am not aware of any kits, but I think your best bet is what I did which is to disassemble the amp and take note of all the electrolytic capacitors and order them. You will have a lot of work but worth it.
Some of the electrolytic caps are not produced anymore. Is it ok to use approximate values, such as 1800uf 200v instead of 1900uf 150v and 33uf 100v instead of 36uf 100v? I can get these caps lokally, but other (chineese) brands and sometimes higher voltages.
It would of course be better to switch to higher values if they are still mountable (go to 47µF at 36µF)
The 1900µF might be a little more difficult, but if the Mouser one fits, I would use it.
Mouser: 598-DCMC192T250AJ2B 1900µF 250 VDC

Is there any disassemble manual for this amp? I've seen pictures of of a disassembled amp, but a manual would be really nice.
I think you're asking this question because you think there should be an easy way to remove the main output boards. Unfortunately, removing the boards requires de-soldering all heatsink mounted components.
I'm aware of this little detail.
What I meant was a disassembling procedure, explaining whitch screws to take out first, etc. There a lot of little allen screws on this amp.

I am not aware of any disassembly documentation. The process is logically straightforward with no "tricky" part assembly used. I would remove the face plate first.
I got it almost disassembled. The back (Input and speker connections) is still attached. Actually, the output bords have to come first. Then comes the front face.
These caps are all Sprague Extralytic and Powerlytic series. Any idea of a good source for this caps?
