dual 2ohm coil Eminence NSW6021-124

they rolled out this as dual 2 ohm coil
https://eminence.com/blogs/blog/nsw6021-124

are they targeting the car audio market ?
why you want to load your PA amps to 1 ohm ??

4 ohms i think is the minimum
i read somewhere that 8 ohms was better even that you do not get the most of the amp
but will give you better.....cant remember the term
it was something that has to do with the impedance and power over the driver operating freq range
cant remember

Not with a 24" cone.

Low impedance drivers have less inductance, and are slightly more efficient.
Lower voltage (less expensive) amplifiers can be used with low impedance drivers.

B&C's 21IPAL has a nominal impedance of 1 ohm (Re.7 ohms).
JBL has been manufacturing drivers as low as 1 ohm impedance for use in many of their self powered subs for the better part of this century.

The 6021-124 offers a variety of configurations not available with a single voice coil winding, allowing a greater variation in amplifier choices, a good feature for a wider use base.

High impedance (8 ohm) or greater drivers allow the use of smaller gauge wire to achieve the same damping factor at the speaker, an important aspect of designs using remote amplification as is common in large facilities.

The low tuned resonator wrapped around this section(like a big type ‘C’ . The ones in the back, definitely experienced higher pressure as they were in the closed end of both resonators.?

Can't answer that, if it is a question, as I don't follow Facebook or DB Drag Racing and still don't know anything about what (or how) the drivers performed, or their failure mode, which you did not share.

The NSW6021 Xlim is 40.4mm. The baffle board is routed out about half the depth of the mounting flange, if double 18mm (<36mm). Without exceeding Xlim, it may be possible to crease the cones if they hit the cabinet center brace.

If Nate used a pair of 17,000 watt amps to drive the four Eminence, not surprising something would break trying to achieve a record.

The speakers you show appear to be the single coil NSW6021-6 (3.8Ω Re), not the newer 6021-124.

Looks like Nate Taufer did not hit the 164 dB "burp" he was hoping for in 2020 with the Eminence 4x21" in a 2010 Tahoe.

Nate achieved 160dB in the 2023 "Modified Unlimited" class.

Anyway, Competition SPL "Drag Racing" is harder on drivers than the Pro PA market the NSW6021 targets.
