My SMPS1200A180 (v7) (feeding a 4-channel UcD180-based amplifier) was taking progressively longer and longer time to start. Over a year or so it gradually went from seconds to minutes from the moment the power was supplied to the relay click and the actual start of the amplifiers. Today it just refused to power up. The internal fuse is fine. Disconnecting the amplifiers makes no difference.
Anyone with a similar experience? Any suggestions on the repairs? Thank you!

Probably as simple as a failed capacitor or high value resistor has changed value.
Unfortunately, Hypex have not released information on these and a replacement is their only answer if out of warranty and 2016 is the last time these were updated.
They were deemed unsuitable for use in confined spaces, as they tend to run hot.

It does feel like a gradually failing capacitor to me, too. I'm talking to Hypex now, and they also suggest a failing capacitor. They requested the unit's serial number; I hope they can dig out similar common issues for these early series boards (the unit is almost 9 years old).
Do they really use Su'scon or did they just use these in 1 product? An A brand using C quality caps. Remarkable.
I have 12x UcD250LP OEM modules and 2x SMPS400A180. All electrolytics are Su'scon. The supplies are refurbs that had their input side caps replaced due to failure and I know the UcDxxxLP OEM modules are also prone to cap failure.
Pfff not good to hear. Su’scon is highly suspect.
So Hypex is another one that makes us buy directly from China. One would just hope such manufacturers would stand out with quality when selling with that pricing.
