DIY with drivers from aliexpress

They do not have excellent quality no matter what they say there.
I tried at someone's insistence to repair a pair of headphones. Far from providing quality sound. Usual quality as for 15 EUR headphones from Carefoure 😀 😀 😀
Maybe others have had better experiences, but I wouldn't believe it.

I will buy some 500ohm 15mm drivers
I thought it was about larger sizes, 40mm, etc.

I’m tried many AliExpress drivers (mostly 40-60mm for over-ear headphones). The quality does vary considerably, but I’ve had some success with a more than a few. Sometimes the drivers are factory rejects, and can suffer from channel imbalance as they’re not always sold as matched pairs. They’re a gamble versus purchasing a known good driver such, as the Peerless HPD-50N25PR00-32 and HPD-40N16PET00-32-ND.

A decent driver is only one part of the formula for good headfil sound. Considerations for baffle design, front volume, venting, pads, tips, crossovers (if applicable as in the case of multi-driver iem designs), target tuning, HRTF etc cetera are also key.

Here are the freq responses of a dozen 30-50mm Aliexpress headphone drivers in a custom headphone project. Few are good, most require additional tuning and price doesn't correlate with sound quality.

This is a DIY headphone project with "Fostex" driver from Aliexpress. IMO it has a crazy price-to-performance ratio, and the guy did his homework with tons of measurements of several drivers in a similar price range.
