Scratched veneer repair

Hey,
I’ve got a nice pair of active speakers with a couple scratches on the veneer as seen in the pictures. The uppermost scratch is deeper but both are across the grain. If I just wet the lower scratch it disappears whereas the upper becomes darker and more visible. I’m looking for advice on how best to repair these.

I’ll have to take a look at what the local hardware store has. It’s a good idea, thanks Galu!

Check Lee Valley if you can't find anything locally. Shellac sticks might work, too but require a great deal of skill to use.

+1 for some sort of filler. I think any attempt to sand it out will just make it worse. You may have to accept it as patina.

Did the speaker come with a grille? If not perhaps you could make one - finesses the problem and protects for the future!

It’s a good thought. I will probably just use a filler stick as the scratches aren’t so bad. I’m going to be selling these soon so……
