Hiya,
I’m looking to buy a new screwdriver set for work on audio equipment, mainly amplifiers. Any specific recommendations for comprehensive kits? Cheers

Only missing are the JIS standard, screws found in Japanese hifi.
Disclaimer: I'm swiss and so a little bit biased 😀

I've had a Halfords handle + bit set for 20+ years and, for audio / amp repair, have rarely needed anything else. It has the usual flat, Philips, Pozi, hex and Torx assortment. If you have the space and budget, a set with individual screwdrivers can be useful for tight places / deep screw holes. Halfords own brand and Stanley are just fine (at least used to be), Wera and Wiha are excellent and more durable but more expensive. Also people swear by ratchet handles, I've never had / felt the need for one, though I don't doubt they're probably useful.
Yes, the ultimate screwdrivers!
Not cheap, but we don't do cheap in Switzerland. 🙂
For the smaller stuff, these deserve an honorable mention, despite their low price.
These suggestions are all great, thank you. I would love the Wera set, but a touch out of budget at the moment. This may be something to invest in later down the line. What are people's thoughts on this set, do you think the main stem of the screwdriver would be too thick?

That looks nice and has good reviews in Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-STHT070885-Multibit-Screwdriver-Pieces/dp/B00DY1Y22Y/
The thickness looks standard for a magnetic bit holder, usually where you find deep / narrow holes where that wouldn't fit is in portable boom box type stuff, I don't think I've ever had that problem in normal hi-fi equipment, but YMMV...
Edit: note that you can also get long bits if you need them at some point: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rolson-Bit-Set-150-Pieces/dp/B006A7G9PM/

For Philips style (cross-head) screws, most of which are actually JIS, Vessel is my go to favourite.
This is an easily available and economical solution:

For most electronic work I use these: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/2101-20 with these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/3938092070...J5Dvpic4=|tkp:Bk9SR8Kq5PvdZA&var=662450921773 Which have worked out well. Search eBay for Broppe. I open a lot of electronic instruments that have a plethora of screws so a power torque limiting screwdriver saves a lot of time and wrist strain. The older version can be had on eBay for less.
